In his famous “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. poignantly stated that the greatest obstacle toward freedom and a world of racial justice is “not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice…” This moderation is often born of an apathy that must be overcome in order to move toward racial justice. This resource includes four ways for white allies to challenge apathy that permits injustice.
