Beatified: John Henry Newman

John Henry Newman was one of the most influential and well-known figures of 19th century Catholicism. Newman’s life was spent attempting to integrate mind and heart, faith and reason.  In his is well known work, An Essay in Aid of A Grammar of Assent, Newman engaged the timeless questions, ‘Can I believe what I don’t understand? and, Can I believe what cannot be absolutely proved?’  Newman was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI on September 19, 2010 in Birmingham, England.  This two-page resource includes a brief biography, prayer and additional information and links.
