New Encyclical, "Spe salvi" Saved by Hope

On November 30, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI released his latest and second encyclical, "Spe Salvi", (Saved by Hope). In this encyclical Pope Benedit asserts the need for a renewed exploration of the Christian nature of the virtue of hope. In the encyclical he notes, The dark door of time, of the future, has been thrown open. The one who
has hope lives differently; the one who hopes has been granted the gift
