On this date, Pope John Paul II canonizes Lebanon’s first female saint, Saint Rafqa (2001). Saint Rafqu chose a holy and devout life as a Sister of Mariamette. During her lifetime, she established a school for girls and encouraged other women to join the Mariamette Congregation.
