On this day we are called to be a voice against the grave sin of torture, and express our support for victims and survivors. This date was chosen because it corresponds with the date that the United Nations Charter was signed in the midst of WWII, and the date of the United Nations Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. Each of these dates signify times when torture and its effects are very evident in our world.
