We recall our Pope’s words, “All is connected,”

As we pray for our sisters and brothers

Across Mexico and the Southern states

Who are being impacted by huge storms, flooding

And the many disasters that follow violent weather.

We are called to see, reflect, and act–

To recognize the sufferings this weather event cause,

We recall our Pope’s words, “All is connected,”

As we pray for our sisters and brothers

Across Mexico and the Southern states

Who are being impacted by huge storms, flooding

And the many disasters that follow violent weather.

We are called to see, reflect, and act–

To recognize the sufferings this weather event cause,

Especially of the poor, the ones on the margins,

The ones with the least resources to cope and rebuild;

To remember we are called to a continual

Conversion of the heart to solidarity;

To respond to this call with compassionate action.

We are also called to commit ourselves

To understanding the connections between our lifestyles,

The way that “business as usual” is conducted

And all aspects of environmental degradation and weather change.

As Francis reminds us, our concern for our sisters and brothers

Should lead us to renewed efforts to renew God’s Creation

So we may live in a world where all can flourish without fear. Amen.

Hurricane Patricia made landfall on Mexico’s Pacific coast on Friday, October 24. While the coastal threat is decreasing, damaging winds and heavy rainfalls are likely to cause flash floods and mud slides in the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, and Guerrero. We hold in prayer all those affected by the hurricane, especially the poor, those on the margins, and with the least resources to cope and rebuild.
