Protests and Crackdown in Bangladesh

, , | | October 11, 2018

In August 2018, members of the peaceful student protests for safer roads in Dhaka, Bangladesh, were violently attacked by the government. The students were protesting for safer roads after two students were run over and killed by a bus in July, the latest of many traffic accidents in Bangladesh. The protestors have been beaten up, tortured, and many have allegedly been raped. The Bangladeshi government is actively taking part in the crackdown, and is attempting to stop the spread of information about the riots.
