#BlackCatholicsSyllabus Reflection Guide for Catholic Educators
Moving through the #BlackCatholicsSyllabus is a faith-rooted reflection resource designed to support Catholic educators and students as they engage questions of systemic racism through a lens of human dignity, justice, and solidarity.
This resource includes guided reflection notes for teachers and students, classroom-ready discussion questions, and a Black History Month prayer grounded in the witness of Black Catholic leaders and saints. It invites educators to examine their own understanding of systemic racism and the Church’s role within it, while creating space for students to reflect honestly on how racism operates in laws, policies, and institutions today.
Grounded in Catholic Social Teaching, this resource emphasizes formation over perfection, encouraging prayerful reflection, courageous conversation, and a shared commitment to building more just and equitable communities.
