In the Human Element, photographer James Balog explores how the four natural elements (water, fire, air, and earth) are impacted by the fifth element: humans. As people change the elements through the mining and burning of greenhouse gases, the elements change humanity at the same time through superstorms, sea level rise, wildfires, and air pollution. Questions in the film discussion guide relate themes from the film to Catholic Social Teaching, specifically Care for Creation.
