Venezuela: Prayer in a Time of Violence (2026)
In response to ongoing violence and instability in Venezuela, Catholic communities are invited to turn to prayer as an act of solidarity, hope, and moral responsibility. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, this prayer affirms the dignity of the Venezuelan people while calling the global Church to pursue justice, peace, and care for those most severely affected by economic hardship and political unrest.
Inspired by Pope Leo XIV’s Angelus appeal on January 4, 2026, this reflection invites communities to lament violence and recommit to paths of justice and peace. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, it centers the dignity of the Venezuelan people while extending solidarity to all who suffer amid war, instability, and economic hardship.
It calls on the intercession of Our Lady of Coromoto, Patroness of Venezuela; St. José Gregorio Hernández, a witness to care for the poor and vulnerable; and St. Carmen Rendiles, whose faith and perseverance encourage healing and reconciliation. Their witness ties the prayer to the faith, struggle, and hope of the Venezuelan people, calling us to trust in the God of peace while laboring for justice, collaboration, and human dignity.
