Keeping Christ’s Promise Prayer

Praying for Native American Heritage Month, we reflect on the Native American and Indigenous Peoples who have come before us and on whose land many of us live. We pause to recognize the harm forced upon them and turn toward a longing for reconciliation and healing for all our communities.

Here’s a sample – 

Recalling the appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe as an Indigenous woman to an Indigenous man, Saint Juan Diego, we ask you to fill us with awe and reverence.

We pray for healing for all those suffering from the legacy of colonialism.

May we begin or continue to accompany and celebrate those in our communities who are Indigenous and Native American as we turn to them in humility, reckoning with our history, to find the rich soil where the Gospel can take bloom.
