Honduran Bishops Denounce Coup
On June 28, 2009 a political coup in Honduras forcibly removed Honduran President, Manuel Zelaya, from power and flew him to Costa Rica.

One Border One Body

The Liturgy is a place where we seek to transcend all borders, all division. The film, “One Border One Body” looks at the issue of immigration from a sacramental perspective. This film invites not only discussion, but reflection and meditation. This six-page resource includes synopsis, themes to explore, discussion questions and scriptural references. Kosovo’s Hope for the Future

Kosovo is a region in Balkans (Eastern Europe) that has been in political limbo since 1999 when Serbia’s president, Slobodan Milosevic, began a campaign of terror and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. The UN has been governing this region until a determination could be made for Kosovo’s status. On February 17, 2008, Kosovo declared its independence, setting off a range of reactions.  Education for Justice analyzes some of the peace and justice issues involved in this new chapter in Europe’s history and the world’s development. December 3, 2006 – U.S. Catholic Bishops Urge Responsible Transition in Iraq

A November 13, 2006 statement by the President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Bishop William S. Skylstad, “Call for Dialogue and Action on Responsible Transition in Iraq,” challenged U.S. leaders to engage in a “substantive, civil and non-partisan discussion of ways to plan and secure a responsible transition in Iraq” instead of the “divisive rhetoric of the recent campaign and the shrill and shallow debate that distorts reality and reduces the options to ‘cut and run’ versus ‘stay the course.'”
